Ricardo House is a new build residence for a young family and is located in a small village in Portugal, very near to the coast. The home is on three levels, adapting to the varying land elevations and the design focused on achieving the perfect functioning of the house in relation to the property’s needs whilst adapting to the average gradient of the field. This orientation allows the main rooms and communal areas of the house to take advantage of the views and utilize the available plot surface effectively, whilst bathing the spaces in natural light.
The formal solution of the house has resulted from an aesthetic exploration of categorical volumes, playing with different heights and shapes while blending harmoniously with the surrounding environment.
